So it seems that "copies' of the Koran have been destroyed by American troops. Books made from paper made from trees, like millions of other books.

And what happens? All hell is let loose. Riots and deaths... over a book!

How can something that purports to be from God, place a higher value on inanimate objects than on human life?

I could never ever become a follower of such a religion/movement/organization.

Sometimes I think it's because they live in countries where you can't speak your mind and here's a chance to Moderator cut: inappropriate about something without getting in trouble.

How can you love a God that doesn't allow free will. You cannot be forced to love anything. Some folks claim that they worship the same God that we do. No they don't. I'd be an atheist if that were true.

What do you think would have happened if troops from an Islamic country had destroyed Bibles?

If one goes back a few centuries and observes how Christians behaved in the world, it's not far-fetched to say that they are the same god. Nothat there aren't any recent examples. Some of them are even running for office.

over a book made of paper made of trees ! hey man you're speaking about people who respect others' religious and cultural features.didn't you ask yourself why they didn't tore up the Bible? not once and you ask why we get all this riots and killing of stupid drunken soldiers. read this Islamic rule carefully if you all want to support the right of difference or freedom of thinking one day.
" And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do." koran chapter 6 verse 108

It seems like some people just need to grow up. It's just an old book, no need for people to die over it. Maybe those people just get off on a bit of the old "ultra violence"

Of course, tearing up a few Bibles would be infinitely worse than rioting and killing people! Yes Im being facetious.... why on earth DIDNT they destroy some Bibles, tit for tat as it were, and have done with it.

So you wouldnt INSULT someone who insulted Allah without knowledge, but you would KILL them? I would take respect for the LIVES of human beings over respect for ones religious and cultural differences any day.

It seems to me that that Scripture you quoted IS saying that all this rioting and killing is wrong, that you should turn the other cheek to people who insult Allah in their ignorance in order to preserve peace and a good reputation in the community.

Wasn't it somewhat recent that this country seriously talking about modifying the Constitution to deal with people burning the flag? People take their symbols seriously.

The Behavior is not an Islamic behavior, it is a human behavior. You are speaking of a region that has been fighting for it's very existence since the 1970s.

The Country has been physically devastated, The land is still covered with millions of land mines placed by the Russians. The old Government has all but been forgotten. the Tribal clans have been ripped apart.

There are still Foreign troops in the country. The Burning of the Qur'ans was seen as an attempt to destroy the last thing the people have, their Religion.

The only thing similar to this in the USA was in the Bible Riot of 1844 when the Protestant Community thought the Irish immigrants were going to replace their bibles with the Catholic Bible.
