This message is based on an article entitled “Highlights of Human embryology in the Koran and Hadith” by Dr. Keith Moore, Professor of Anatomy and Chairman of the Department, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto, 1982.
Dr. Moore points out that the study of how the human embryo develops in the mother’s womb could not progress significantly without the use of microscopes. Microscopes were not invented until the 17th century C.E., and were not used in this field of study until the 18th century. Therefore, when Dr. Moore studied certain statements in the Qur’an on this subject, he remarked, “I was amazed at the scientific accuracy of these statements which were made in the 7th century C.E.,”
The Qur’an in 39:6 states that God made us in the wombs of our mothers in stages. Dr. Moore comments: “The realization that the embryo develops in stages in the uterus was not proposed until the 1759, and the stages used nowadays were not adopted worldwide until the late 19th & early 20th century C.E.”
Furthermore, he says: “The idea that development results from a genetic plan contained in the chromosomes of the zygote was not discovered until the end of the 19th century C.E. The verse from the Koran [80:18] clearly implies that the nutfa (i.e. the initial drop of fluid) contains the plan or blueprint for the future characteristics and features of the developing human being.”
The Qur’an 23:12-16 indicates that there is a lag or a gap between two of the early stages of growth. How does that compare with modern scientific knowledge? Remarkably! Says Dr. Moore: “It is well established that there is a lag or a delay in the development of the embryo during the implantation… The agreement between the lag or gap in development mentioned in the Qur’an and the slow rate of change occurring during the second or third week is amazing. These details of human development were not described until about 40 years ago.”
Finally, Dr. Moore concludes by saying that the agreement he has found in the Qur’anic statements “may help to close the gap between science and religion which has existed for so many years.”
The above evidence shows that the Qur’an must be from God as it claims. The Qur’an says that you and every human being should consider this book with care. Had it been from anyone other than God, you would have found much discrepancy in it. (4:82).

the Quran copied "science" from earlier civilizations like the Greeks. have you ever looked into the origins of your superstitions you believe in?

and do you notice that it is ONLY religious muslims that claim thier book is scientific? why can't you find any credible scientists that say the same?

It is an example of the problems we get when scientists have religious faith.

Instead of being objective and critical, this Islamic convert has worked hard at finding anything in the Quran that seemed to confirm his faith, even interpreting passages to fit. I'd think that the Mullahs wouldn't be too pleased if it did not suit them that a western professor provides them with some welcome propaganda.

"Consider the following verse referring to sperm:

He is created from a drop (of sperm) emitted-- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs. (Qur'an 86:6-7)

Clearly this verse is incorrect, and clearly it has origins in earlier theories. First of all, for sperm to originate between the back and the ribs would mean that it comes from the kidneys! We now know that semen is produced in the testicles, but people in Muhammad's time did not know this. Eleven centuries before Muhammad, the Greek physician Hippocrates theorized that sperm passed through the kidneys into the penis. For centuries this was an accepted (and incorrect) belief of the origins of sperm
."

It is worth reading both side of the quranic embryology discussion and it will become painfully clear that Dr Moore's placing the service of his science under the feet of the Quran has only made him look a laughing - stock.

Islam did co-exist in the place and time when great scientific advances were being made, stopping only when Islam was radicalized by Iman Hamid al-Ghazali late in the 11th century.

Or course some science crept into it just as bronze age ignorance is rife within the bible.

Nothing from the 11th century then. This changes what? Islam in its current fanatic-dominated incarnation is an evil deen with no redeeming qualities that would take civilization backwards into ignorance and Theocracy, period.

Go back up to post #5 and actually watch the video, you might actually learn something. (I know, I know, but it could happen). Islam was hijacked and radicalized and has never recovered.

I'm not defending Islam, it's still superstition and ignorance, but became a real threat when it was radicalized/hostilitized.

Default Hello? HELLO out there?

I'm thinking the OP's poster, souhilo1, has not watched Dr. Tyson's elucidating video, or will not comment.

Not much of an honest debate then is it? Just more delusional proselytizing? One must conclude the obvious.

My brother ...
If God did manifest himself to some people they would still say : ohh ... we must be dreaming ... this can't be true !!
Or they will say this thing has happened 5000 years ago in India and it turns out to be an illusion and they will always find some link site to prove whatever they are saying .
If you give them something they will read it quickly and they will immediately start looking for something to proves your fault rather than trying to absorb it .
To them it's not about whether it's convincing or not ... whether it could be the truth or not ..
It's a about stubbornness ...
They do not want to have anything to do with God regardless of anything else ...
End of the story !!!
As Quran say :
"Do they not then think deeply in the Qur'an, or are their hearts locked up (from understanding it)".
You must have a pure heart ... a kind soul in order to feel the truth before you even see it .
How could you expect this to happen from someone who don't even believe that he/she has a soul ?!!!!
That we are only speaking animals that eat and sleep and mate .
Worshiping God is for those whom have pride and dignity for themselves and live up to the meaning of being humans not animals .. to those whom do not leave themselves to desecration and degradation .
How could you expect to convince someone that this is the word of God when he/she believes that all the orders and precision and complexity that we see around us were made by some wired accidental chance !!
Just like that ...
1 ...
2...
3...
Booooooom ...
whoooo ...
What a beautiful universe we have ...
They will immediately agnor Newton’s First Law of Motion if it it may indicate a possible existence of an intelligent force.
“Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.”
If you ask them about precision and complexity ?
They will till you that you just need to give it time to evolve !!!
Yet again they will immediately agnor the second law of thermodynamic which said that the universe is heading towards a final "heat death" over time which clearly means that time can only be a demolition factor not vice versa !!
And if you confront them and embarrasse them with something like the possibility to find evidence of design in biology then they will say it could be made by a civilization somewhere in the universe
They will continue violating any scientific law as long as it could even suggests the possibility of the existence of an intelligent mind .
They are willing to believe in anything even in Aliens if they have to but not God !!
Believe me ...
They couldn't care less about the truth .
They already made their decision .
"They have hearts wherewith they understand not, they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not (the truth). They are like cattle, even more astray; those! They are the heedless ones ".
The Holy Quran
