It is not only a matter of casual opinions voiced, but also there have been many verses introduced to validate the claim that Islam is an evil religion.

The truth of the matter is that the majority of the people in the West have not gotten the chance to know the real Islam. Those who have had the chance to learn a little about Islam may have done so through a non-Islamic source. However, should one consider the source where one obtains information about Islam, or not?

Thanks for the great article, Weaam.
Sadly, there are loonies in every group. Even in my country, Indonesia, we had those "loony-groups" who used Islam as a tool to justifies whatever political agenda they had. And those kind of people give Islam a very very bad name.

Absolutely Yes. We should consider the source.

We in the Western world would not trust an Islamic source because we would consider it to be biased, just like the source you referred to.

We would use a source that we felt was unbiased.

It's very difficult to find any unbiased information when it comes to religion. But I would certainly search hard to find one, I find the best way is to discuss matters of religious differences. Which I have to say,.. and not aimed at any person here, just a general observation based on my own experiences.. .

It is not always easy to discuss religion with muslims, as they tend not to be open to any other ideas except for Islam and it usually ends up with quotes from the Quran etc.

I admit it is often difficult to discuss religion with us and we do often use quotes from the Qur'an as our source.

I think that may be because we do not want to impose our own interpretations upon others and feel that is the best way for a person to form their own.

if the religion was developed by the thoughts of some one i would not accept it and i will not folow it

but the religion is from the creator and that is why we refer every matter to his judgement.
O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger and those of you who are in authority;
and if ye have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and the messenger if ye are (in truth) believers in Allah and the Last Day.
That is better and more seemly in the end. The Noble Quran.

I am wonderfully intrigued by the Islamic Faith. The issue that confounds me with the information I locate is the different messages coming from Sunni and Shia camps. For me it would be a wonderful help if someone----preferrable a well-educated Muslim practitioner----would come to a forum like this and help me understand the vast difference I hear between messages about what the Quran between these two factions. Has anyone else run into this?

FWIW.

Yes Sunni and Shi'i do differ. But the Shi'i only make up about 10% of the world's Muslims and most Shi'i live in or near Iran. Most of us will probably never come in contact with a Shi'a.

We do have at least one Shi'a who visits this forum quite often. For the most part we agree about the major things.

The only things all Muslims have in common is we all follow the same 5 Pillars of Faith.

The biggest difference I find between us and Shi'i are differences as to what Hadith are considered authenticate. Prayer times and the method of praying. Also the Shi'i concept of having a Central Leader.
