Not sure if you've heard of Ergun Caner...but the guy has come up with some whoppers. He claims to have been raised as a radical Jihadist, a Sunni Muslim. He's a sham.
We're not all like the guys. This video is an interesting thing to watch, where a Christian is taking to task for his lies. Yes--we do police our own. If you watch it, fast forward to about the 25 min mark to start.
I have a question on this "jizya" tax. Is this a requirement on muslims from the Quran or is it from the hadiths?
If it is from the Quran and so from Allah I have a problem with this, because it does not seem the action that could be attributed to a Holy God. If we are all equal in the eyes of God, from the lowliest slave to the highest of Kings, why would a Holy God wish to divide. What is to be gained?
To subjugate and bring low by the enforcement of such a tax looks to be more the bullying actions of those in power over a minority. So far more in keeping with the actions of man.
This is just awful, of course these evil men are not true muslims... True muslims would not do such a thing, but neither do they raise their voices very loud in defence of their persecuted Christian neighbours. As every Muslim is responsible for their own actions.. If ever there was need of some central leadership in a religion Islam needs it now. There are far too many " muslims" carrying on in very unislamic ways... Someone needs to man up and tell them exactly how a Muslim should behave...because they're just not getting it on their own.
Maybe the problem lies in their interpretation of their Quran, there are a great many contradictions ...treat with respect..lop of their heads...don't take as friends... And it's ok to lie..a scholar may say..oh but these are only applicable to a certain time or place. But if the ordinary Muslim can't work this out by reading it for himself, then maybe the Quran is not as perfect as its believed to be.

It is from the Hadith and the Qur'an. Basically it is like the US income tax. Serves the same purpose, It goes for the building of Schools for the Non-Muslims as most do not want their children going to an Islamic Madrassas. Also helps pay for the military that helps protect the nation. Non-Muslims living in an Islamic nation have no obligation to join the Military. they are permitted to do so if they desire, but there is no obligation.
The Jizya tax is usually quite a lot less than the Zakat that a Muslim has to pay in an Islamic Nation.
Both Muslims and Non-Muslims have to pay taxes in an Islamic nation. The Taxes have different names to keep them separate, the Jizyah tax is primarily used for the Non-Muslim needs. One thing that may seem unfair is that the Jizyah Tax also helps pay for the Nations Military and operation of the Government while the non-Muslims have very little to say.
Actually it is a moot point as no nation has imposed a Jizyah Tax in over 100 years and both Muslims and Non-Muslims pay the same income Tax. Also in most Islamic Nations the Non-Muslims have a say in the Government and can run for Public office.

As far as there being any leader, if we all followed a madhab all Islamic Nations would be under True Shariah and not Wahhabi'ism that too many think is Shariah. Education is the biggest need. The common thread all the problem Nations have is a very low rate of Literacy. The Truth is that since the 1950s many of the leaders of Islamic Nations stopped education, keeping the people in the dark and under the control of government appointed Imams. It is sad how few people in the Mideast can read.
It is actually an impossibility for us to have a central leader. At least not until their is a Caliphate established led by a God(swt) Chosen Caliph and that is not going to happen until Jesus(as) returns and the coming of the Mehdi.
To have a central leader takes away the full self responsibility we all face. The Shi’ite do have a Central Leader the Ayatollah of Tehran and he has taken on a level close to being worshipped. His fatwas are considered to be the direct word of God(swt) and must be obeyed by all Shi'a. Remember what happened when the Ayatollah issued a fatwa against the Dutch Cartoonist. The Shi'a do believe there is only one Ayatollah and he is the 12 Imam and has been alive since the time of Muhammad(saws) although he seems to change his body every now and then. (This is basically the 12er sect of Shi'ite which is followed by nearly all Iranians.) Not al Shi'a are 12ers
