Oddly Atheists sometimes fail to see that their obsession with denial is seen as delusional by Theists.
No one is immune to delusion.
The fact we all are prone to delusion is why we each have the responsibility to continuously verify that which we believe or don't believe.
No one is responsible for what we believe or don't believe except our self. It is very delusional for a person to think he/she can change another person's beliefs by "Proving" they are wrong.
While belief and disbelief can be taught, they are meaningless until the adherent proves their truth through his/her own searching and investigation.
None of us should believe or not believe based upon the words of man alone. We are forbidden to be blind followers as the excuse of "being misled" is not a valid excuse.
Delusion in any area is the ultimate sign of laziness as it indicates the person has failed to take responsibility.
On the other hand we also must remember that no matter what we believe there will always be those who see it as a delusion, no matter how much proof we have found.
Actually it is not odd that a theist would react like that.
It shows their mentality.
They do not have an argument to support their own particular theory, so they need to drag a person down to their level, for a confrontation.

Shucks, I was much worse as an Atheist. Made it a point to go out of my way to show theists how silly their beliefs were.
One point to understand when an atheist enters a theist zone they are not going to find many supporters and their views will be considered ridiculous at best and antagonistic at best.
Glad you are here. I believe all theists should know that atheists are just as human as theists and they are sincere in their disbelief. An atheists in a theist realm is good to have as they do cause us to think and not become lazy blind followers.
Other than heightened security and loss of freedoms, In the states we don't have to deal with it on a grand scale yet, other than the next big terror attack, but that will probably be in New York, so it won't affect me physically.
I am however, concerned for the future for my kids.
So far what parts of your life have you had to alter because of Islam?
Because of the reaction I may get from Muslims, I am now afraid to burn a Quran.
Since our Supreme Court has said it if OK to burn the American flag, I think it clear that we are allowed to burn anything, including a Quran. However, one of our religious leaders got in a lot of trouble because he wanted to burn a Quran, and I think that was ridiculous. The Muslims should understand the freedoms we have in America.

So are us Muslims that live here in the States. I have Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren that I want to be able to live a full, happy and peaceful life
None of us want the likes of ISIS or any other radical group posing a threat to us or our friends and neighbors.
These radical nut jobs probably cause us more problems than what they have caused non-Muslims. It is getting to be almost dangerous to let strangers know you are Muslim. Hatred against us is quite real and at times does raise it's ugly head against us.
While we are out in the Boondocks and my neighbors know us and we get along with everyone it is getting to be scary to venture into areas we are not known.
