I find it difficult to believe knowledgeable Muslims think a suicide bomber will enter heaven

Suicide is forbidden in Islam There are no maybes or permissable exceptions, it is forbidden and will earn punishment, not rewards.

they don't have a chance.
They have no "hope".
They have nothing to lose.

You are correct

The epitome of despair and a hope that even hell will be better than life.

No hope, despair?? I have zero sympathy. They have choices just like any other human being on the planet in my opinion.

while we all have choices in that does not always reduce desperation. People that live in war torn nations often fail to see their choices and only seek a way to stop their emotional pain.

Re: 'Being essentially stuck in the 7th century isn't particularly conducive with development'

And that is why I think perhaps the legs and minds of ISIS will fail them inexorably as they pursue a religious social contract based on violence.

It would seem they have to be under some astronomical law where they are like some supernova shining violently bright in their reverence and devotion to Allah. But supernovas shine for a while then explode and destroy themselves. It is there then that the violence they perpetrate will perhaps turn back on them.

How soon before they cease to exist? Not sure. One thing is it won't bode well if they link up with other jihadists.

ISIS has no right to the claim of Jihadist.

You have killed many innocents who were neither combatants nor armed, just because they disagree with your opinion,” the letter said, denying the Islamic State the right to call the faithful to jihad. “There is no such thing as offensive, aggressive jihad just because people have different religions or opinions.”

“Jihad is a noble concept in Islam,” told VICE News the national director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Nihad Awad. “It is the right to defend oneself and one's country. But people cannot take it into their own hands. As an act of aggression, it is a violation,” he said.

“They claim to be jihadists, but they are not. I urge everyone not to refer to them as jihadists,” Awad added.
