There is a very similar Hadith. But, at the moment I forgot which book it is in.

If an ideology is inherently peaceful then the extremist would be the ones who are the most peaceful.
If an ideology is inherently violent then the extremists would be the ones who are the most violent.

It may also be that the media only gives publicity to the violent minority

only if you stay with the western media

you wont hear these stories in the western media. All media is biased and the news typically is seldom shown that might make the majority reader. appear to be part of a terrorist group.

we have all seen those in the western media.

but its not really an issue with religion since none of them were committed in the name of christian beliefs. the closest there is is the "Lord's Resistance Army", but then its actually a cult that mixes various tribal religious beliefs along with some verses from the Torah. its neither catholic nor protestant. unlike all the islamic terrorism we have which comes from mainstream islamic groups the sunnis and shias.

To be sunni one must adhere to one of the 4 madhabs Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali or Hanafi. ISIS appears to be a very radicalized version of Wahabbi which is not a Sunni madhab.

Wahhabism to ISIS: how Saudi Arabia exported the main source of global terrorism

Why Is the Wahhabi Saudi Monarchy Afraid of Wahhabi ISIS?

https://syriarevolts.wordpress.com/2...habi-salafism/

It is true Wahabbi was founded and funded by the al-Saud family and Saudi claims to be Sunni following the hanbali madhab. Wahabbi is not a Sunni madhab and it is an error to consider Whabbi'ism to be Sunni

There currently 4 major sects of Islam, although we are prohibited to identify with any sect. Islam is not supposed to be sectarian, but it is made up of humans and us humans do not always do as we are supposed to do. The current major sects of Islam are

Sunni-from 85 to 90% of all Muslims
Shi'ite from 10 to 15% of all Muslims
Sufi often considered Sunni but some, less than 1%, identify as being a sect
Wahabbi are less than 1% of all Muslims and self identify as being Sunni.
There are numerous others but combined they make up less than 1% of all Muslims

While there are radicals and extremists in every sect, few are terrorists. Virtually every terrorist since the 1700s has been Wahabbi The Majority of terrorist attacks have been after 9/11 Most of them have been directed at non-Wahabbi Muslims.

although the al-Saud Family is responible for the Wahabbi movement, it has become so far removed from Islam that even the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is preparing for an attack by ISIS

To be a real child of God, one must seek to be the embodiment of love, compassion, and embrace peace and brotherhood toward all mankind, anything else, is useless in my humble opinion.

Some times words get in the way of meanings.

To a Muslim the term "Child of God" is blasphemous and considered insulting or demeaning to God(swt).
God (swt) creates and does not procreate. We are the Creation of God(swt) not the progeny of him.
There is none equal to him and he has no partners or children.

The remainder "one must seek to be the embodiment of love, compassion, and embrace peace and brotherhood toward all mankind, anything else, is useless in my humble opinion." is in agreement with what many Muslims believe.

''To be a worthy servant of God(swt), one must seek to be the embodiment of love, compassion, and embrace peace and brotherhood toward all mankind, anything else, is useless in my humble opinion.''

Is comparable with Islamic thought
