I believe you will find wikislam to be a very radical anti-Islamic site that has a tendency to publish partial truth.

for example the article on homosexuality fails to mention that homosexual acts are virtually impossible to prove unless they are being performed publicly with at least 4 witnesses watching.

I liked the links I posted because those pages had much more information on them as well as lots of links to the sources.

Compare that to the first reply posted, the link went to a page that had very little actual info, no references, and appeared to be trying to portray Islam as a completely pacifistic religion, which is just not believable by any stretch of the imagination.

When looking for the truth in any subject I prefer more info, not less. I can sort out the BS on my own.

Also the page provided by Pruzhany starts out with a piece of text that I often see used out of context by Islamapologists. Whereas the links that I provided show that same text in the proper context with an in depth analysis of it's meaning.

Do you really believe that ISIS had 4 witnesses that saw penetration before throwing those guys off the building?

Can you provide the text with the specifics of the 4 witness requirement and what they have to see to justify killing homosexuals?

I would be interested in learning more about that.

Then what Woodrow is saying is that ISIS was clearly and demonstrably in violation of Islamic law when they did that. And it isn't just Woodrow. ISIS is opposed by pretty much the rest of the Islamic world. Certianly the Muslim Kurds, the Muslim nation of Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf states, Iran and Syrian Muslims (at the very least the Shi'a) are opposed enough to fight them. They have been denounced as unIslamic by quite a lot of various Islamic religious leaders.

I don't think we should ignore the fact that ISIS is rooted in a rigid Wahabbist Sunni theology, but the majority of muslims worldwide do not share these beliefs.

Absolutely! I don't particularly like the religion, I am baffled, uncomfortable, and sometimes angry about the cultural baggage that often accompanies it, but the vilification of all muslims is unconscionable.

I have really been exposed to a lot of this very recently, as my wife is teaching English as a second language classes at our local University. probably > 70% of her students are muslim, mostly Saudi. There is plenty of stuff I don't like, but underneath their cultural baggage, there are some really well meaning, kind, thoughtful young men and women coming through her program. They deal with stuff that is absolutely foreign to us, and it doesn't fit the western "Islam is of the devil" narrative. One of the young men confided in my wife that expected to be and would be proud to be a martyr. He was expecting to be killed for his faith, but not by Christians or "the West". He was Shi'a from the Al-Hasa region of Saudi Arabia and has witnessed the government turn a blind eye countless times to anti-Shi'ite violence. Another student was a Muslim refugee from Syria, who had spent the last couple years living through that hell. To encounter these kind of people, and then hear ignorant Americans proclaim "Kill 'em all!" or "No Muslims should be allowed in America" just makes my blood boil.

Don't mean to rant, but this crap gets my dander up every time, especially when it is followed up with a "Praise Jesus"
