Don't recall the thread, and cannot recall even what the topic was. But someplace in the response, I believe it was Woodrow, who provided the response that contained what I am looking for.

The crux of the response was that there were 5(I think) questions that any or all could be asked as to whether a task/action should be undertaken. And if undertaken was it beneficial in the eyes of god or one that was neither beneficial nor destructive.

Sorry I can't explain it better. I just recall that these questions/statements, seemed very true.

Thanks much.

Again though sunnah is not as simple as do?don't do. There are 5 levels of resposibility

1. Must be done, there will be a punishment if you fail not to.
2. Desired to be done, but no pjishment or sin if one does not do them
3. neutral, no punishment or rewards for doing or not doin
4. desired not to do, but no punishment for doing for example eating shell fish
5. Forbidden to do, there will be a punishment for doing.

Just reading a post by Woodrow from yesterday I believe, in the Why so violent thread and ran across what I was looking for.

Thanks.
