Who are they?
Why don't they band together and straighten out the people hijacking your religion?
Surely, someone is influencing these terrorists but there doesn't seem to be a counterbalance.

If this were a Christian problem, you'd have the Pope, President, etc coming out.

I just don't see the same from the biggest leaders of islam.

We don't have a "Pope". Every country has his Imams. But that doesn't mean people listen to them.
They listen more to their local Imam eventually (not always).
You have to understand that we are not united.

And that some muslims don't like their official Imams who are afraid of their governors and can't talk freely, like in Egypt they had to be quiet under Mubarak and now Al Sisi
In KSA they also can't talk against their King or criticize their politic
We know some gave money to extremist groups or let people bomb some places in the country etc ...

We can't really have a top 10 of influencial muslims because we don't speak the same language.
People must be gathered but it's complicated.

But, don't you have 1 book, the koran, that you're all supposed to be following? So, in that sense, there is a unifying force or whatever you want to call it. Similar to the Christian Bible.

What the peaceful muslims need to understand, is that until you get your radicals under control or exterminate them completely, you're going to continue to be viewed as complicit in their actions because the condemnation of those actions is not nearly loud or forceful enough.

But you are united. Muslims are united by the Quran and Muhammed. All over the western world we see Muslims forming enclaves, no-go zones, where non-Muslims are not welcomed, or even allowed. Muslims are so united that they are able to carry out such terrorist acts as 9-11 and what we saw happening in Paris. Muslims united behind the boy with the fake claim that he made a clock (that looked like a bomb). No Muslims stood up and said the clock looked like a bomb and the boy was a liar. Muslims unite and celebrate terrorism. Muslims unite to protect and lie about Muhammed. Muslims unite in prayer. Muslims unite to try to get Shariah Law installed. Sure, Muslims slaughter other Muslims by the millions, but make fun of Islam and Muslims unite against the disbeliever. And the biggest uniting of all is that only Muslims will be in Allah's paradise...no disbelievers are welcomed. Disbelievers will all be suffering endless torture in hell, united.

We have the same Book but we don't have a person that everyone will listen to.
Before we use to have a Caliph but since the end of the Caliphate some Imams were under the power of the Kings or Presidents.
Some people listen to them but some don't.

Those who are extremists avoid to go to the mosques because they don't share the opinions of the "moderate" imams, and because they don't want to be view by others believers (or the police).
That's why they rent some appartments and discuss between them.
Those people don't listen to the local imams or imams on tv who condemn terrorists.

Because they have a complete different view of the religion.

I'm sure all christians don't listen to a priest in particular on tv or don't all go to the church and if they do it's not necessarly every week.
The Pope is catholic, i don't now if the other christians listen to him.

If muslims were united, they would have fight all those extremists together a long time ago.

Most Muslims do not initially choose to live in Enclaves. It is a matter of economics and where they can find a place to rent. Very similar as to why other Migrants end up localized. However after an enclave/ghetto is established it does become the location of preference for new arrivals from the same nation.

I have found that you do not have reliable information about 'most Muslims' Sorry.

And now that Muslims have set up these no go zones, they become hot beds for terrorism.

I wish Muslims would start to judge the evil radicalism in Islam, but they will not. Not one Muslim will say that Muhammed was wrong (evil) to own and trade slaves, let his men mass rape women after slaughtering their husbands, sons and fathers, have sex with a 9 year old child, sell women, demand hatred and terrorism of disbelievers...and all Muslims think that disbelievers deserve endless horrible torture from Allah. This is not a healthy way to think.

They are here in the USA. How do we protect ourselves and our families from those that hold such an ideology?

Nearly 70 are arrested in America over ISIS plots and they include refugees | Daily Mail Online

My heart weeps for Paris. No Muslim is speaking out against the root cause...the evil in Islam.

While some communities might have somebody that thinks he is a Religious leader, for most of us he has no more authority or influence than a new born baby.

There is no living person that any large number of Muslims think of as being a religious leader.

Many of us are doubters and very distrusting of anyone who claims to be an Islamic leader.

There is no living Muslim leader that is followed by more than a very small percentage of Muslims.

For all practical purposes there is no such thing as a living Islamic leader.
