A word for word translation is "In the Lowest Earth"
Actually, I used several translators and none said anything about 'on earth'. I even did it a word at a time. No words were 'earth'.

I didn't and I tried several times. I got land.

Ah, take a look at the 12 translations.

land
ground
soil
territory
earth
grounds
floor
terrain
site
underworld
topsoil
amphitheatre

This explains why the translators all used LAND and there is no "lowest land on earth" mentioned. "ardi" can mean land or earth or soil, but it is found only once in the verse ... not twice, like you insisted. Earth, in this context, is the same as soil, or land. It's NOT the planet Earth at all! Once you look at the above translations it is clear!

in the nearer part of the land A.J. Arberry

in a neighboring land N.J. Dawood

In a land close by Y. Ali

In the nearer land Pickthall

in the lands close-by Muhammad Asad

in a nearby land M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

in the neighboring land, F. Malik

In a near land Shakir

In the land nearby Sher Ali

In a near land Maulana Muhammad Ali

in a nearby land Muhammad Sarwar

In a nearer land ‘Abdul Majid Daryabadi

In the nearest land Saheeh International

on the nearest front! T.B. Irving

In the nearest land Rashad Khalifa

in the nighest parts of the land Palmer

in the nearest part of the land Sale

In the neighboring lands! Dr. Munir Munshey (one of Osama Abdallah’s authors!)

You said: It does say lowest place on Earth,,,

A word for word translation is "In the Lowest Earth"

See where you are wrong in your assertion? The word for word translation is more correct and shows how you are wrong. More correct would be "In the lowest land (or soil or earth, meaning low ground, not the planet.) You added the word 'place' and changed the context of earth from soil to the planet Earth.

Mystery solved...and certainly there was nothing profound here.

We still have the issue of 'lowest' vs ' nearest', but the issue of the Quran saying the lowest place on Earth is resolved. Nice try.

Where did I add the word place? I used the words directly from the Qur'an.

Ree فِي

My apology. I actually did not recall saying that. It was not my intent to word it like that. My fault for not proof reading before submitting.

I intended to say.
I
It does imply lowest place on earth.

but intent is of no value if one does something different.

As I said...YOU put the word PLACE in the quote:

"It does say lowest place on Earth"

In fact, you added PLACE and took Earth out of context.

Fee= In
Adna=low or near (translators all use NEAR)
Alardi= Earth (better to use land or ground. This is NOT a reference to the planet Earth, but to soil/ground.)

After some research, I'd say the translators got it right: In a nearby land.

But even if we go with low, all the verse says is in a low land. Nothing about the lowest place on earth, as you asserted:

"It does say lowest place on Earth"

No, it does not say that.

No! It does not imply lowest place on earth! If you still think this, go back and read what I have said. I did my research. Learn from it. Earth means soil/ground...NOT THE PLANET!
