Assalamu Alaykum,

Is playing tennis acceptable in Islam if we respect these three conditions?:

- Playing tennis doesn't make us miss praying on time.

- We only play tennis a few hours a week. So it's only a pastime. We don't play professionally.

- We don't play for money. If we happen to win some money in a tennis tournament, we either refuse the money or immediately give it to charity.

If the answer is no, please explain the reasons why tennis is forbidden.

It would be nice if you wear shorts long enough to cover your knees.

Islam recommends a dress code for men as well.

We are permitted to enjoy our selves. Just have to keep it halal. We are to enjoy all the pleasures of life Allaah(swt) has provided for us. We are not to make haram that which is halal. Unless something is specifically Haram, it is Halal. Most things in life are Halal and that includes enjoyment of life.

Virtually all sports and games are permitted as long as we do not engage in gambling and do not miss any of the obligatory prayers because of them

All things we do are to be done in moderation. We are to live a balanced life and avoid excesses in anything.
