the etiquette of eating in Islam

In Islam there is etiquettes for eating before eating and whilst eating and after finishing eating

a- before eating
1 – Washing the hands before eating.
2 – if the presented food is unknown it should be asked about it or it should be declared what it is becase some do not eat specific food.
3 – Hastening to eat when food is brought by the host.
4 – Mentioning the name of Allaah before eating.
b- whilst eating
1 – Eating with the right hand.
2 – Eating from what is directly in front of one.
the Prophet Mahammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“The blessing descends in the middle of the food, so eat from the edges and do not eat from the middle

But if the food is dates or something of that type, it is permissible to eat from all parts of the plate.
3 – Washing the hands after eating.
4 – Rinsing the mouth after eating.
5 – Praying for one's host.
6 – Eating with three fingers.
This applies if a person is eating with his hand. But there is nothing wrong with using a spoon etc,
7 – Eating a piece of food that falls on the floor. If a piece of food falls on the floor, then the person eating should remove any dirt that gets onto it and eat it; he should not leave it for the Shaytaan,
because he does not know where the blessing is in his food; it may be in the piece that fell, and leaving it makes a person miss out on the blessing of the food.
8- Not criticizing the food if you like it eat if you do not like do not eat
9- not eating and drinking from vessels of gold and silver it is not allowed in Islam to eat or drink from vessels of gold or silver
10- moderation in eating and not filling the stomach
c – after finishing eating.
1- to thank Allah and thank the host and pray for him

Also, drinking water before eating and not drinking water right after eating is recomended.

The stomach should be divided into three parts - food, air and water.

One should stop eating when there is some hunger and appetite left. Avoid fully loading your stomach with food is recomended.

There are examples that some of the great and pious Muslims in the early Islamic history would not eat alone. They would find or wait until some poor/homeless/hungry/needy person joins them.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said

No one among you should eat with his left hand or drink with it,
for the shaytaan eats with his left hand and drinks with it.

This applies if one is able to eat with the right hand. But if one is unable to do so, there is no sin in that.

The right hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was for his purification and food, and his left hand was for using the toilet and anything that was dirty.

the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)) forbade any one of us to clean himself with his right hand.

also This applies on the ability
