So I guess the city name "St Louis" ought to be changed because it supposedly violates seperation of church and state?

How? Its named after a king of france.. and "Saint" doesn't necessarily have a religious meaning.

How about L.A.? I personally don't believe in angels.
I also believe that N.Y.-city should change it's name back to New Amsterdam.

Catholicism is part of California's heritage. This part of the country was ruled by Spain for over 300 years.

So?
What is your point?
That he who rules never is wrong?
Or that if a tradition is 300 years old it must be kept alive?

who said anything about an open container? I am talking about any alcohol. a bottle of wine that's a gift or whatever. I believe they now force the cab drivers to the back of the line now thank god. if you aren't going to do your job, go to the back of the line. some even think it was a scam. a way for the cab drivers to refuse passengers going on short cab rides.

As for not allowing alcohol in cabs, that is completely within their rights - just as many cabs don't allow food, drinks (non-alcoholic), sex or smoking in their cars. They belong to a union, but the cabs themselves are personally owned... just because you offer to pay them for a ride, doesn't mean they have to allow any behavior you choose to do. Whether it's for religious, personal, or health reasons, it really does not matter. Do you let people bring alcohol into YOUR car? I certainly don't, especially considering the strict open-bottle laws in California!

I wouldn't want to risk paying a fine because a passenger had beer on him.
Besidez, isn't the (cab)driver responsible for paying the fine? (in Holland the car-owner is responsible)

What's your suggestion Tricky D? Should we change the names of San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Santa Rosa?

Oh wait, lets demolish all the missions too while we're at it.

Hey, I have no problem if you want to change the names.
I even have no problem if you don't wanna change them.
I simply don't care.
