The singer, who was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, converted to Islam in a ceremony at a friend's house in Los Angeles.

He is said to have sat on the floor and worn a small hat while an imam officiated.

The photo of him in that black getup with a pair of sunglasses behind the veil was the most ridiculous looking thing I've seen him ever wear. This guy is in his own category of weirdness. Interesting story though. Thanks.

Now he can change the lyrics of his big hit song to "Killer, Killer"

Just kidding!!! I know Islam is really, mostly.. a religion of peace.

You know, I have always felt a little sorry for this child-man..I have an old cd of his greatest hits ( in the 80's, 90's), that I occasionally listen to while driving..

I don't. Anyone with as much going for him as he had, who then screws it up so royally (repeatedly!) by making obviously dumb choices...no sympathy. Sure, he had a lousy childhood. A lot of us do, but most of us don't end up going off the deep end.

Also, the article posted is contradictory. In the beginning it says he converted to Islam. At the end of the article it says one of his friends says that he suspects Michael will eventually convert. Which one is it? (But really who cares what this guy does anymore? Not me.)

My only real problem with him is that I do believe he has molested young boys and gotten away with it. I also think his view of the world is so twisted that he thinks it's ok. At least that was the impression I got in that famous interview he did in which he admitted that he has kids sleeping in the same bed and that it's perfectly acceptable. The fact that he's paid millions of dollars to at least one young boy's family tells me he's obviously done something very wrong.

It seems like some of the deepest musicians always have something wrong with them. Let's be real. A person who is content with life and this world isn't going to be the deepest musician. History proves it.

Another celebrity gone nuts. I doubt islam will be able to help him straighten his life out...

Well I do think the guy is really talented and I always remember the year at the Oscars when he did that absolutely stunning performance and the audience was blown away. Now that his fame has diminished and he's been through so many financial and legal difficulties I wonder if this idea of converting to Islam is some sort of attempt to find some inner peace and resolution. He's really had one of the most unusual lives of any celebrity I can think of and it's run the full spectrum from the height of fame and talent to the stuff of tabloids.

I wonder what would've happened to people like Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix if they lived past their 20's and 30's.
