one thing for sure je-us is NOT the Messiah's name, nor is G-d the name of our creator. Many call HIM by HIS title instead of HIS name. HIS Name is indeed YHVH. HE said to "Call upon MY name". NOT MY title. As for the greco roman interpretations I'll pass. I have NO interest in calling a Hebrew person by a greek name. It's an insult to say the least..... Many had names that included the sacred name within theirs. Yahushua=Messiah and prophets like Mattityahu, Eliyahu etc.

There are many names in which to call God. The Creator, Being of Light, The First Source and Center, Father, Mother, Friend, The I AM. What ever we call Him, He will respond. I personally call Him Awesome Dude and He does answer. God is personal to each of us. What we call Him doesn't matter.

The reason certain people hyphenate the name of God like G-d is that they fear that they would be responsible for destroying the name of God. Yet you hyphenate the name of Jesus as Je-us. You are implying that Jesus is God. Did you know that?

The name Jesus is a common Jewish name. Its is Yeshua and the larger form of it is Yehoshua, translated Joshua. Do you write Jo-hua as well?

Many of you are missing the point. JustNobody said it perfectly. Our English word for God is a translation from previous languages which originally meant 'good' or 'goodness'. Don't make it so confusing for everone else who pops onto this thread and don't bother debating religious differences here. The origin of the word was the only intent of this debate.

Long ago when the creator was asked to give a name to associate him with we were not really given one because God is not one among many gods. God is simply God and that's all there is to it. But the origin of the word for God is kinda like a nickname for the goodness in control over creation. Though it makes it much easier for us to personalize the earthly representation of God and use a name now that Christ has come.
