By the same token I see elderly women who cover. Why would that be?

Not to disrespect the religious ideology behind the hijab, but sometimes I think I'd like to see that become mainstream fashion. Perfect for bad hair days when you don't have the time to fuss.

hahaha youve got to be joking. people should actually READ the quran before judging it. you take one verse thats not even correct and post it on a forum and then the world wonders why the message of islam is so confusing. its because people like you spread lies about the quran. i can tell youve NEVER read the quran because the whole chapter 65 is about divorce. the mentioning of have sex or even children for that matter is not even mentioed in the verse.

the verse is as follows in ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

[65:4] As for the women who have reached menopause, if you have any doubts, their interim shall be three months. As for those who do not menstruate, and discover that they are pregnant, their interim ends upon giving birth. Anyone who reverences GOD, He makes everything easy for him.

please for the sake of everyone here who youve just confused, point out to me where it talks about having sex with children... o whats that? u cant? why? maybe because ITS NOT THERE. now anyone who youve just confused with this verse someone will have to explain it to them that thats not qhat it says. and people wonder why islam has so many mixed messages. its because of people like you who like to think they know something about the quran or islam or muslims without even opening the books we follow.

In Islam, my understanding is that a woman is required to "cover" or follow hijab when she is of the age of puberty. Recently I've noticed a great deal of Muslim families that are black/African (I'm not sure whether they are Somali/from the African subcontinent or African-Americans) that have their very young daughters covering fully, some even wearing a niqab (although it seems most just wear a khimar/headscarf). I've seen this on girls as young as probably three or four years old.

I'm honestly just curious as to why this is. I feel it's a woman's right that--if she wishes to--she can dress/where what she wants, but I find it kind of odd that parents seem to be making their undeveloped daughters cover like their mothers/post-pubescent sisters. This seems to be a practice that I've only noticed with black/African Muslims, and not Muslims of Arab/Asian/European descent. Is it a cultural thing?

AFAIK, I always thought that in the Qu'ran it was stated that a woman must cover once she is of marrying age/puberty. It seems like having a young, undeveloped girl cover is almost making her a "taboo" or sexualizing her in a way before she needs to concern herself with that.

Am I wrong about this interpretation? Thanks in advance.
no , you are not wrong with this interpretation
