No, but you're dodging the original question, would we ask the entire Mormon populace to condemn the act if the father and daughter were Mormon?

I would, yes.

I wouldn't. I do not feel that one person is solely defined by the religion they practice. It is just a small faction of who they are as a person.

Before you completely jump on the bandwagon, ask yourself this: would we be asking for the entire Mormon population to express outrage if the father and daughter were Mormons?
But, facts are that greater percentage of women in the middle east have FAR fewer rights than in the US. The whole area is dominated by males. I am not on the "bandwagon" you suggest as I know, from my travels, muslim women in say India are way way better off than ones in middle east.

There are Christians, Hindus etc (not many Buddhists I know of) that do take the religious text to extremes. But in none of those cases you have millions of women across tens of countries being treated shabbily. While it may or may not be the muslim religion but the results as far as (mis)treatment of women is indeed apalling.

In theory, evey religion is portrayed to be great or the only one, but, in practice, some have caused many more problems than others in the past; some continue to cause problems even today.

I read Islam for Dummies, and I'm currently reading The Idiot's Guide to the Koran. They are quick and simple reads and are helping me gain insight into the religion.

I just want to know why do I need to take a religion started by a man hearing voices serious? Under ANY other circumstances, anyone else hearing voices and claiming some god spoke to them to establish ultimate claims would be hauled off to a psychiatric hospital (well today at least). Back then I guess folks could get away with it in isolated societies.

I acknowledge that Islamic women in the Middle East are treated horribly, yet I do not blame Islam for their treatment. I blame the male-dominated society using Islam as an crutch to treat their women as third class citizens.

Same as I blame our government using "Christian" beliefs for not allowing homosexuals the right to marriage and therefore treating them as second class citizens - but that's another argument for another day.

Same can be said for Christians who believe that Moses spoke with the Lord through a burning bush.

Always sounded like an acid trip to me...

I make the SAME argument for the Christian "prophets" and I refuse to take that religion serious either for the SAME reasons.

Religon and culture are very intertwined in most middle eastern countries. I tend to blame - if not the religon - at least its teachers/mullahs who have a huge influence there and continue to let all this to happen. And by the way, from what I know, homosexuality is a big no-no in most muslim cultures. Heck, even a woman driving a car is a problem is some countires.
