I graduated from Millsaps College in the early 90's; spent most of my time in my gf's house in NE Jackson. Spent 6 years there, had a nasty breakup with my gf, left, and have never seen Mississippi or her since.

Has it changed? A lot of folks were moving to Madison/Ridgeland. How is it now socioeconomically?

and if you;ve seen my ex, well ,that will be a different thread, Thanks.

Probably not too much different that when you left it, only the streets and crime (property crime mainly) have gotten worse. The Jackson City Council is horrible (Big Kenny and Chuck Labamba), and JPD is largely ineffective and unresponsive (althought these are all more city-wide problems than NE Jackson specific problems). It still has nice areas and is by far the best area of Jackson, but with the additional taxes, Jackson Public Schools, and pathetic leadership in place in Jackson, not a place I would choose to live.

Downtown Jackson is undergoing a major boom in projects and amenities. It's not totally arrived by any means, but it's definitely on its way. Fondren is buzzing with restaurants and shops, MUCH more than in the 90s. Madison is taking off in a big way, as has Rankin County out Lakeland Drive. Overall Jackson, in particular over the past 5 years or so, has really begun to turn around and take off.
