Networking for Career Opportunities (Jackson, Canton: transfer, salary, move)

Hello all,

I am new to this site and have been reading a lot of posts. I was in Jackson recently for an Interview with Nissan in Canton. I am not sure if they will extend an offer but it would be nice. My wife has accepted a position at a hospital and as a opportunity - consequence I am looking for work. I have not yet had much luck I am sorry to say and am not so sure why, however I do know that the field in which I am trying to gain more experiece in is a closed community as it were. I have a graduate degree in HR, with some experience to back it up, but I fear it is not as much as so many seem to require nowadays. However, I do have over a dozen years as a consultant to the hospitality industry and an additional 6 years working in the forest industry.

I would like very much the opportunity to network a little as we know absolutely no one in the south, as we are originally from Canada. I am here on H1B visa, so that doesnt matter so much. I am willing to start at the bottom for a nominal salary...just to show what I am capable of....and then progress. I realize that this is a bit of a stretch, but have experienced good ol southern hospitality for the past several years in Athens Ga, and would like to continue on that tradition. I can provide any employer with strong work ethics, experience diversity (CDN nationality) a varied but transferable and valuable skill set within HR, and Higher Education (currently employed in this field).

I would love to hear from you pointers about where to look, whom to look for, etc. Our anticipate move date is set for beginning to mid Oct at latest. Please feel free to pm me.....
