Default ~* need advice on madison/rankin county*~

My family and I are looking into moving to either Madison or Rankin county. I am only interested in the Pisgah area of Rankin county...as school districts are very, very important to me at this point. My question is, does Pisgah have any subdivisions there? I know it is a very rural area.

Someone recommeded Gluxsdadt area in Madison. Is that still in the Madison school District? I know everyone sings it's praises, but Madison is a little large and ritzy for my taste. I prefer smaller, rural areas. We are considering it, however, because it is close to my husband's work.
Also, I am a teacher and do not imagine that I could get on in Madison very easily.

Any advice on schools, subdivisions, or areas near Canton would be greatly be appreciated! Good churches also!

Thanks.

Just wondering why you would only want Pisgah in Rankin County. There are other good schools in Rankin County.

Gluckstadt is in the Madison School District. The schools are good there, and a new high school opens next year. Churches just depend on what you like (small country churches or the mega church environment). There are numerous subdivisions. A list (not an all inclusive list) of them based on what I define Gluckstadt to be (there isnt a Gluckstadt zip code, it will either be Canton or Madison):

east of the interstate

Wildwood
Twin Cedars
Deerfield
Hampton Hills
Harvey Crossing
Cedar Green
Bainbridge
Bradshaw Ridge
Bear Creek
Kemper Creek

West of I-55:
Lake Caroline
Ashbrooke
Providence
Germantown
Panther Creek

Canton schools are bad, so you would need to be sure you are in the Madison district. I believe some of the subdivions listed are split between the districts. Not sure about getting a job in Madison County schools, but Ridgeland could also provide an option.

Pisgah is a good little school. There really aren't that many subdivisions in that area which is called Sand Hill. It appears to be almost entirely rural. You would have to check with a realtor to find a house probably.

A few minutes down Lakeland Drive towards town, the first subdivisions start at around Holly Bush Rd and along old Hwy 471 which runs between Lakeland Drive and the Reservoir. And then of course along Hwy 471 between Lakeland Drive and the city of Brandon to the south, it's still rural but with new subdivisions popping up. I'm pretty sure though that those areas around Holly Bush Rd and the Reservoir feed into the Northwest Rankin High School zone and most of Hwy 471 going towards Brandon feeds into the Brandon zone (both of which are good). That said, those areas near Lakeland and Hwy 471 are not that far from Canton because you can cut across the Reservoir by taking Hwy 43.

On the Madison County side, the Germantown High School zone continues along North Old Canton Rd as it runs near the Natchez Trace up to where Hwy 43 crosses over from Rankin County into Madison County. Right around there you cross into the Canton school district which is lower rated. The North Old Canton Rd area is still rural but only a 10 minute or so drive into Madison.

I live in Lake Caroline and love the area. There are some great neighborhoods in Madison county that are located in the Madison school district. I am a mortgage banker in the area and would love to assist you in any and all mortgage needs. Let me know if you would like more information on that.

Palisades has views of the big water. It's a smaller subdivision and probably overall a bit more expensive. There are nice trails for running and biking on the Rankin County side. The Northshore where Palisades is has a quiet, secluded feel to it.

North bay is in the city of Madison which means strong zoning laws, nice shopping areas, and a distinct, upscale community identity. The Rankin County side though has nice shopping areas also.
