After initially thinking about apartments and condo's in Jackson, I almost decided I would like to live in a safe, small town environment and the more I talk to people familiar with the area the more Brandon keeps coming up. Anyone have pro's/con's of living in Brandon? Also, are there some decent restaurants there? Thanks for any info.

I like Brandon. I prefer reservoir Brandon to old Brandon, but Brandon in general is a little short on restaurants in my opinion. The reservoir side of Brandon will put you more central to Ridgeland, Jackson, and Flowood, so you would have easier access to a better selection of restaurants.

If you are going for an area that feels like an actual small town, with a main street and older homes etc, then Brandon is a good choice. For shopping and restaurants, Flowood, Madison, Ridgeland, Downtown Jackson, and Fondren are 20 minutes or so away. You should also look at Lost Rabbit, which is designed to feel like a small town on the water in Madison. There are lots of condos there. You should look at the area adjacent to the Jackson Yacht Club in Ridgeland...some cool housing and waterside restaurants around there.
