i grew up in Yazoo City and just moved a few years back...i do NOT recommed that you live there. The crime is completely out of hand, its not even safe to sit at a red light with your doors unlocked.

Im not sure that the "nightlife" in downtown Jackson is reason enough to move there. Its quite sparse actually. The risk-reward, to me, isnt worth it.
