we are looking at purchasing a home in reunion. we currently have a home in lake caroline, with a boat, and I was wondering how the lakes compare? I know lake caroline is 800+ sq ft, but truthfully, a lot of that is very shallow and is more for fishing. is reunion lake crowded? is it big enough to actually tube/ski on?

Look at Reunion on Google Map. The enhanced aerial photo should show you the size of the lake, particularly since you can zoom out for context, then zoom in, to see the lake in relation to streets and houses.

The lake at Reunion is about half the size of Lake Caroline (about 400 acres combined for the lakes at Reunion vs. about 900 acres for Caroline alone). Although there are shallow parts in Lake Caroline (in some of the coves or fingers) the middle sections can be quite deep. Although I do not know the depth of the lake at Reunion, I do believe it is fairly shallow. As for boating, you are much better off at Lake Caroline, as Reunion is so small that you basically just go in circles. Skiing and tubing is better at Lake Caroline, although the Reservoir would offer more area than both, but watch for the gators there, plus you can only lease your land at the Reservoir. The neighborhoods have a different "feel." Lake Caroline is a more casual laid back and natural environment with an equal mixture of residents: retirees, middle-agers, and young families. As for Reunion, it has a younger country club type of crowd. Lake Caroline is more serene while Reunion is a little more busy with a lot of kids. Both are beautiful areas, just attract different types of people in my opinion. But since your question was about the lakes, I would stay at Lake Caroline for better boating, skiing, and tubing, plus the best fishing (even though it doesn't sound like you are into that). Given that Reunion lake is much smaller, boating would definitely not be better there.
