Since we have a Madison news thread, I thought a Fondren news thread would be fitting as well!

These are just some of the recent headlines coming out of Fondren:

BancorpSouth to Build New in Fondren | Find It In Fondren
BanCorpSouth Bank building a new facility to replace their older one at Old Canton & North State in the center of Fondren.

Now Pre-Leasing: The Meridian at Fondren | Find It In Fondren
Pre-leasing for the Meridian at Fondren has officially begun, that is current under construction at 800 Lakeland Drive across from the University Medical Center.

Sweet Gig: Betsy Mullins and Fondren Fro-Yo | Find It In Fondren
A nice article about Fondren Fro-Yo, Fondren's & the city of Jackson's first frozen yogurt shop.

3000 Old Canton Sold, Updates Underway | Find It In Fondren
That building that houses Surin of Thailand (formerly Nick's) is sold, with the new owners maintaining existing tenants.

I was not that BancorpSouth was building a new building, and also not aware that Sun Gallery was closed. State Street will be one big construction zone soon, as you take in the two new hotels into account.

I'm also very excited about the Meridian. It will help to transform that part of Fondren.

I've said before on another thread that Fondren will look differently in the next 5-10 years, especially west of State Street. The new apartment complex and the two new hotels--along the Whitney Place development that the Hampton Inn will anchor--is only the beginning.

I know this link pertains to the entire city, not just to Fondren, but I thought I would post this anyway: Forbes: Jackson an up-and-coming city for college grads

Very exciting news as Maywood Mart is almost in my backyard! I never knew how good Moe's was, until I ate at one in Alabama, & LOVED it. I know Madison had a Moe's at one time!
