The best place to keep up with information about the JA senior who died because of the incompetence of the City of Jackson is on Jackson Jambalaya. Several postings outlining uncovered manholes on busy streets....even after this tragedy. How does City Leadership not halt everything immediately and put every resource into addressing (at least marking them) this issue? Pathetic. Jackson has had a string of bad mayors, but this is hitting bottom and continuing to dig.

For once this isn't the fault of the city. This is the fault of the asphalt company. They should have coned the manhole and didn't. This is their negligence. They are going to have to pay a lot of money for this and should.

I don't know who is responsible for the manhole cover not being in place, possibly it could have been removed by a crackhead wanting to sell it for scrap metal. But JPD was made aware of this open manhole a couple of hours before the young lady was killed and it was still left open, JPD didn't secure it nor did Public Works, that puts the responsibility for this tragedy squarely on the City.

Jackson Jambalaya: Woman struck open manhole & called for help hours before student killed.

This makes me so angry. It was a death caused by negligence of the company repaving the road, JPD, and the Jackson City Works Department. So many people had notified JPD and the City Works Department about this specific manhole cover. The death of this young woman is on YOU! This whole thing is just another disgraceful chapter in the leadership of Jackson.
