Or does crime breed poverty? I'll post the study when I find it. It's been a few months.

How many of the homicides were committed by non-felons carrying firearms in full compliance with state law?

Poverty breeds crime. You don't see that level of crime in more higher income areas. It's like that worldwide.

After 1 is dead, 10 or 11 why it matters. A life is lost. That is a disappointment for the community.

In Jackson, in particular, below are the reasons:
1. decades of careless leadership and
2. subsequent loss of low/medium income jobs and
3. Lack of new job creation

All the above contributed to family breakups. In Jackson a black couple has to be very very strongly motivated and determined to keep their marriage intact and provide a stable lifestyle for their children.
It is a challenge, with lack of expendable income (for majority low income families). Changes in culture, trends and related demands it brings into the living room and dining room is causing nothing but frustration in JXN family environment. What can you expect in this scenario?

We need to bring low/medium paying jobs within the city limits (this is a no brainer.)
Stable income can subdue the frustrations. First bring a decent paying employer/manufacturing plant into the city. Give some break to the bread winner of the family. Then talk about the homicide rates.

I argued earlier in the thread that it wasn't really poverty but something that you often see in high poverty areas: unstable, dysfunctional households. Those are much more common in low income areas than in high income areas and I believe that is the true reason that crime is so pervasive in certain areas.
