I moved here a couple of weeks ago and people, it is gorgeous here. The people are extremely friendly, intelligent, and very helpful. The countryside is beautiful, and you have a phenomenal history. The FIFTEENTH state in the country!

I live in Madison. Yes, it's a bit of an upper class enclave, but IMO it's an example of what the people of Mississippi are capable of.

I just wanted to give Mississippi a huge thumbs up. I've not been in a more positive environment in many years. And really, it's much more affordable than places that are nowhere near as nice.

God Bless the Magnolia State.

quagmier, I just moved here myself, and yeah, it's not bad at all. The only real complaint I have about the Jackson area is the soils, which wreak havoc on foundations and roads. Beyond that, just like every other city in the South. To me this area is a mesh of Birmingham and Montgomery.

You have get beyond the self-deprecating way of many people here, but it'll eventually pass, things have been negative for a while. Going to be some good growth downtown in the coming years, and people will wise up to it sooner or later.
