No disrespect to any posters here......but you really cannot compare Madison to Pearl.......there is absolutely NO comparison.

Madison wins, hands down. Schools, crime, quality of life, property values, etc. If you are looking for a planned community..that is all you will find in Madison.......the whole city is planned. Some will see that is a negative but let me tell you, it is a very positive for Madison and the state of Mississippi.

Look around at places like Pearl, Brandon, Clinton, etc......you go from one nice neighborhood to an absolute trash heap next to it.

In Madison, it is more uniform and consistent...the way I like it.

here is the website to the city

Home (http://www.madisonthecity.com/Home.htm - broken link)

not pictures of neighborhooods, etc....but, as you probably know, pictures don't really give you a great perspective. THe best is to come down and look around....all brick buildings/houses, neighboorhood covenents that if not abided by, can be sued by the city.....very clean, safe town.

Do you like cookie cutter houses? Or would you rather live in a more historic area with trees?

Even going to the MALL in Madison is a nightmare! Planning? It seems "planned" to trap you there - just pulling into the mall near wal-mart and then driving the half mile to the other stores means maing like a five minute trek through lights, stop signs, and incredible traffic because everything is funneled through concrete curbed "streets" carved into this parking lot.

Ugh. It used to take me 45 minutes at night to make the 6 mile trip from my office near 8000 Sunset to my apartment up the hill from Sunset Junction and I thought THAT was bad. Madison has many of the worse features of Los Angeles without the character, shopping, or money. The saddest part is how some areas around starkville are beginning to look the same.
