Hong Kong Bistro
I was thrilled the moment I walked in yesterday! The place was packed and we were the only non-Asian family there- a handful of anglos dining with Asain family/friends. Very friendly staff.
We had dim sum, they just kept it coming. It was great. My 10YO tried the fried chicken feet after being assured that the feet had been washed! My son and I passed on those.....and my DD took a bite and deemed them too bony! (What did she expect?!)
We will definately be back to order off the menu mid-week and it could end up being our after church place to eat.
This would be a great place for a CD get together....Karla could have a big bowl of rice (and maybe try the chicken feet on for size!) and the rest of us can go crazy with the options. And they have a few really big, round tables, suitable for a crowd.
So glad you mentioned Hong Kong Bistro.
jj970- dim sum only on Saturday and Sunday, but they have only been open a month and a few days. If yesterday was any indication, they will have to offer it at least one night a week, as they were packed. You must try it and report back! I like Mama Fu's for a good, quick after work meal, but don't consider it authentic. pf changs is good, but again, not like a stop in Chinatown.

They have dimsum on weekends. We were there this past Sunday, and they got very, very busy. This place opened less than a month ago!!
I even got their business card here...we intend to go back again and again... their address: 9825 San Jose Blvd (same complex as the Outback), tel. number 292-5286. It can get crowded so prepare to wait.

Genghis Khan Chinese Restaurant
FYI I just did a search for chinese restaurants, Jacksonville, FL and found 126
You will be busy for a long time trying to locate them and testing them.\

The BEST Chinese rest. is Jackie Lee's China Bistro. It is located near the intersection of 9A and Baymeadows on the Southside. The atmosphere is really good, too. Check it out when you get here. Moderator cut: realtor advertising

Any recs for Chinese near the beaches? I have tried Wok n Roll and Hot Wok and both left something to be desired.

Just moved from NYC, and this place rocks. I thought I would have to do without real dimsum when I relocated here.. but this places rocks! Everything is authentic! I hope they never leave!!!!

I agree PF Chang's serves very good food. However, it is not the genuine ethnic stuff. So one must be sure what their expectations are before they take the tips on this thread. I know some people will find the dishes at Hong Kong Bistro alien, but for those of us who pine for the real thing the place is heaven.
