Question 3 months observership at Mayo clinic Jacksonville--need housing

I am from Bangkok and got fund for observership at Mayo clinic Jacksonville for 3 months (August-October). Would you please recommend me some housings or apartments in the walking distance from mayo clinic or in the areas that have convenient public transportation? I can afford not more than 700 USD/month. Thank you.

San Pablo Apartments

Most apartments don't rent for 3 months - but in this economy maybe they will. These apartments are old, rated poorly, but close to Mayo (according to the internet). I've never seen them.
I'd check with Mayo administration for housing. Certainly they are associated with temporary housing for the people getting medical treatments. It probably includes transportation.

Thank you Ryde41

I will try to contact the apartment you suggested. In googlemaps I saw it's not far from Mayo clinic. About 2 kilometers I think I can walk on the Pablo parkway that I think it's safe. I did check with Mayo administration and they gave me housing list. But after I contacted them I found that most of them are rented out and none of them is in walking distance. I can't drive and I am not sure in that spread out areas I could find reliable public transport.

Mai_Bkk, my humble suggestion is that you come early and find a week stay for about $200/week first. that will give you some time to do the proper research you are going to need before signing a lease. it will be difficult to find a 3month lease but perhaps someone at mayo can help you with that since i'm sure they have people in your situation with those frequent questions. I understand your questioning coming from Bangkok, but you should know that public transportation will be very difficult for you in jville. you will not be happy with it at all, especially in the area you are trying to live. there is nothing truly walkable about jville or the area where mayo is. even just walking around mayo would be a good hike on a daily basis. i just thought i would mention that because it will be a tremdous difference than what you are probably used to. so come early and do some research so that you may make the best decisions for your stay.
