Hey...I am a recent graduate with an IT Associate looking into moving to Jacksonville Florida from Cincinnati, OH this fall for a better lifestyle and opening business opportunities. I am in my late 20's and I was just wondering what it is like as a city and do you really need a car to live there and what area of the city provide a upscale nightlight ...Thank you for the response

Jax and Cincy have very different feels. The taxes are much lower in FLorida, which is great. However, yes, you absolutely need a car in Jax. Best nightlife for young professionals is probably The Beaches, Riverside, Downtown, San Marco, as well as the suburban areas near UNF and the Town Center mall.

Here are a few quick analogies
Jax :: Cincy

San Marco :: Hyde Park
Riverside :: Clifton
Avondale** :: Mt Lookout
Springfield :: Northside
Westside :: Westside
Ponte Vedra Beach :: Indian Hill
Southside :: Kenwood/Mason/Westchester/etc

** Fun fact - Jacksonville's Avondale was actually named after Cincinnati's Avondale. Unlike Cincy's, it did NOT turn into a horrendous ghetto

20's, upper scale night life.

Here ya go:

Bistro Aix in San Marco (restaurant & bar)

Orsay in Avondale (restaurant & bar)

Fusion art-wine-jazz in Springfield (wine, beer, & expresso bar)

The Cellar @ Three Layers in Springfield (wine & beer bar inside cafe)

Mathews in San Marco (restaurant & lounge)

Poppy Love Smoke in Downtown (cigar & wine bar)

Dos Gatos in Downtown (bar & lounge)

The Loft in Riverside (bar & lounge)

Walkers Wine Bar in Riverside (wine & beer bar)

The Brick in Avondale (restaurant & bar)

The Grotto in San Marco (wine & tappas bar)

There are plenty of semi-nice/trendier places too, such as The Ivy, Mark's, & Lit (all Downtown), among others.

All of those venues pictured above are relatively close to one another, with in a few miles. Some just across the street from one another.
