I'm looking for a good neurologist in the Jacksonville area. Any recommendations?

Hi Robyn,

We have Aetna PPO and this would be for the treatment of migraines.

I'm not personally familiar with migraine doctors - but I've heard good things about the Mayo Clinic. Don't know if Mayo and its doctors are in your network. Robyn

Dr Nealis on Beach Blvd ... he's one of the best anywhere ... an older/old fashioned style ... he even comes to the waiting room himself to get his next patient

Thanks for the recommendations! My husband has been dealing with these migraines all his life. I feel bad for the poor guy! A good doctor is much appreciated. :-)

Sounds like your husband could profit from the complete workups that Mayo tends to do well (since this has been a problem for him for a long time). It will come up with a "game plan" for him - put it in place - and then probably have him get regular follow-up with a "family" neurologist or primary care physician. I especially like Mayo workups because it's "one stop shopping". No need to see a doctor in one place - go to another place for blood work - another place for imaging - etc.

So I'd check and see if Mayo is "in network" for you. Also check out your co-pays/deductibles. Although Mayo's "list prices" are frequently about the same as those you find at other providers (and sometimes lower) - it tends to give PPOs much smaller discounts than a lot of other places. So your out of pocket may wind up being higher at Mayo than elsewhere. Robyn
