Hi all

Me, my wife and two year old are going to Jacksonville for 3 weeks - end Sep to Mid October - and we are looking for things we could do A) as a family, and B) just my wife and my son when I am at work (Mon-Thu)

Does anyone have any suggestions? We're especially looking for family friendly places.

We were thinking of spending one weekend at Disneyland - since we are new to the country and have not been there before. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
Paul.

Your two-year-old (and you and your wife!) would enjoy the Jacksonville Zoo. It is not to be missed!
Jacksonville Zoo

The Jacksonville area is loaded with parks and playgrounds, and there are many websites with information. Here's just one:
Jacksonville Parks - National, State & City Parks, Playgrounds and Dog Parks near Jacksonville - UpTake.com

If you're coming here from a non-beach/non-coastal area, then of course your family would love a day of playing in the sand and surf. I can recommend any of the beaches. Your two-year-old might have fun in the water fountain play area at St. Augustine Beach Pier, and then further south you can drive onto the beach itself.

You won't be disappointed by paying a visit to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine. You could spend one day in that area, walking around downtown and eating, then driving across the Bridge of Lions to see the gators and birds (for the record, I've noticed that younger kids really love the birds).

St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park: Rare and Exotic Reptiles Birds and Mammals

The carousel is also a very short walk from Castillo de San Marcos, as well as an awesome playground (both of those next to the parking garage).
