St.Augustine has nowhere near the level of crime intensity of Jacksonville.

I moved here three months ago and rented in Royal St Augustine which is 2 miles east of St Aug on 216. I have no complaints apart from some car contents small crime (stole loose cash from unlocked cars) Also look at Heritage Park though you may have to go up to $1200.
I love the Island but long term will settle on Davies Shores as it is near to town ( just over Bridge of Lions) and near to the beach. Great idea to rent for a year as we have done this and now know where we like .

That's true. I'm surprised St.Augustine hasn't suffered from spillover crime, meaning Jax criminals commit crimes in St. Augustine

Jacksonville's population is approx. 800,000 people. St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and immediate surrounding area has apporx. 35,000 people. Many more potential crime victims in Jacksonville and much easier for crminals to hide there. Criminals do not need to travel 35 miles to small tiown St. Augustine to find victims.

When people move to Jacksonville they generally don't move to the core of downtown Jacksonville but still Duval. When people say they are moving to St. Augustine, they don't generally refer to the city of St. Augustine, they move to St. Johns County which has a population of about 200,000 and which is more affluent than Duval County. People prefer to call St. Johns County St. Augustine. You can always make the argument that poverty breeds more crime and that may be the reason there is less crime in St Augustine and St. Johns combined.

Such a beautiful town. To answer the OP, what is the crime like in St Aug from a resident's perspective?
