They just broadcast the DDD (Food Network) show on Metro Diner last nite, at least that was the first time I saw it. Looking at the past postings there seems to be no consensus on its quality. Going to be in Jax in Nov and wondered what the current opinion is. Sure looked good!

The Metro Diner, as of a couple years ago, is over-hyped and features extra long lines. Their breakfast is average. As good as some diners, not as good as others, better than a few, I guess. Certainly not better than home, and not worth the wait. If there was no wait, and you happened to be nearby (which would be odd because the only things near it are my old elementary school, a church, and a neighborhood), then I'd say try it out. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere. I've had better breakfasts at Cracker Barrel and IHOP (which isn't saying much).

Of course your mileage may vary... but I can say that they definitely serve food, and it is definitely edible. Just not something I'd wait or go out of my way for.

Good strawberry pancakes that are large enough for breakfast and lunch. Strawberry butter is also very tasty.

Love this place. Fun to take out-of-town company here for breakfast.

I agree, the taste of those pancakes, are well worth the wait, which isn't ALL the time!! Unless you prefer going to drive thru and getting some frozen then microwaved grub, I definitely recommend this place. Nice environment, good food. Decent prices.
