Satellite has its benefits but before you decide on Directv or Dish make up your mind to be without TV when it rains heavily, which it often does in Fl.

When I had cable tv it always went out during storms. We haven't had the satellite tv go out yet, knock on wood.

The cost of comcast and the inconsistent speeds/uptime was the reason we chose dsl and satellite tv and this is coming from a computer techie. :-)

Cable has been saying these things for years and I've also had satellite for years. Are there times where I might lose the signal? Sure. but it's not nearly as often as they'd like you to believe. Besides, I watch about 95% of my TV timeshifted on the dvr which works fine with no signal.

When we had those two tropical storms in 2004, my Dish signal never went out.

When I had Comcast, I could count on a minimum of 2 - 3 outages per month. They always blamed a contractor for hitting a line somewhere. It sure did seem to happen a lot.

Anywho, that's my experience. Yours may vary.

Anyway, I decided to go with Comcast for Internet service (they tried HARD to sell me on TV/phone!). Got a deal on their mid-level service.

$29.99 for the first 6 months
$44.99 for the next 6 months

Definitely more in-line with what I'm used to. $61 a month (regular price) is ridiculous for that level of service.
