Has anyone worked with a local photographer for family portraits? I am looking for more casual shots like you would see in wedding photographs. I googled and there seem to be a lot to choose from but no idea what makes someone good or worth the money. I am also not opposed to going to a store, Sears, Wal-mart for some fun shots if someone has had a good experience there. Thank you!

What do you mean by "fun shots"? I do some photography myself, I'm not a pro, but do have a nice ($750) digital camera and get some very, very nice photos from it.
Send me a PM about it, if you're interested.

MOVING PICTURES

This is my buddy's site. He has a day job and only does this for fun so I think his rates are quite negotiable.

Make sure you find actual photographers. There are sooooo many people around here that buy cameras and then call themselves photographers. Make sure you ask these "photographers" what kind of classes, if any, they have taken.

I just replied on a post for baby photos, but here are a couple suggestions...

Picture People Avenues Mall: They seem to run good specials and they have a lot backgrounds choices.

If you're looking for something more "artsy"/outdoors, check out PORTRAITS BY EMILY. I haven't used her yet, but I love her style. She has pretty good prices and I think she has a spring special coming up soon.

I happen to be a photographer as well. Let me know if you'd like to talk.

Not Cady and Cady! That name came up at a parent meeting and the conversation was NOT positive.

They do our school and sports pictures as well as senior portraits (they have a contract) and are HORRIBLE. Expensive, difficult to work with doesn't even begin to describe this company.
