Would love to hear some opinions on Jax Golf & CC for a retired couple in their 60s. There are some lovely homes in there and the clubhouse is gorgeous. Schools aren't a consideration because our kids are grown. We prefer Marsh Landing but might not be able to afford it once prices start creeping back up. Thanks for any insight you can share .

Marsh Landing now has no initiation fees for any memberships other than golf - and it's $10k for golf. Don't know what the monthly dues/minimums are. What kinds of things are you looking for? Social membership - fitness - golf - pool - tennis - whatever? Robyn

I'm talking about not being able to afford the homes within Marsh Landing, not the fees. Jax Golf and Country Club has many nice homes in the $350-$450K range but there's nothing for that price in ML, at least not at the moment.

We would probably only want a social membership with pool and fitness privileges. We don't golf or play tennis.

You know how some communities just have their own "personality"? I was hoping to hear from people with first hand experience at the Jax Golf & CC to get an idea of what that personality is, what kinds of people live there, whether folks are moving in or moving out -- that type of thing.

Default Jax Golf not for retirees

Hi,

My husband and I lived here for three years. We recently moved due to a change in his employment. We're in our 50's. We found that Jax Golf social events were focused mostly on families. Although when we moved there, we were told there were only about 30% families in the community and the rest were empty nesters or retirees. I think it's probably more like 70% families.

We do golf, and they have a gorgeous golf course. If your looking for an active retirment community, I wouldn't pick Jax Golf.

Thanks, that's the kind of info I want to learn. I wouldn't mind up to 50% families, but 70% is a lot. We're not old fogeys, but we don't want to have to dodge bikes and skateboards all the time, either.
