Default Best Builder(s) in Durbin Crossing

For those of you who built in Durbin Crossing, please tell me your experience with your builders. Are some builders much better than others? Which ones are the best? We are considering building approximately a 3200+ square foot home in Durbin Crossing North and would like a beautiful and very well built home that will last a long time without problems. We also want the builder to be very good about fixing things - things they should fix.

Also, are you all very happy in Durbin Crossing? We have elementary school age kids and would really like friendly neighbors and lots of young kids. We are torn between Durbin Crossing, Willowcove (not as pretty as Durbin) and possibly Coastal Oaks (prices are seeming just too high for the home you get in Coastal - we wouldn't like the house we would get there as much). Any regrets not moving to Nocatee? Thanks for your help!

We initially went with Mercedes Homes there, but they are having bankruptcy issues and had to recind our contract. That was such a waste of time and energy. Definitely do NOT go with them. We are now building with DreamFinders, but have had tons of issues with their inefficiency and disorganization. We are six months into our contract and still can't get a straight answer if the permit has been approved. GOOD LUCK!

My husband and I built with Advantage and we couldn't be happier with them. Our house was semi custom and anything we wanted to change they did with no problem. We are in love with our home and love the added features that came with it -- granite, stainless appliances, archways, large bedrooms/closets, high counter tops in the bathrooms, etc. They were so efficient getting their permits and we were in the house within 3 months. We had a small glitch, with lighting in the kitchen, I called up the builder, and they were at the house changing it by the end of the same day at no extra charge. They could have easily told us they weren't going to fix it, however, they said, "No problem and thank you for pointing it out to us." I HIGHLY recommend Advantage Home Builders.

Have you considered Austin Park in Nocatee? The neighborhood is almost complete, but depending on what you are after, you might be able to find a wonderful deal. We are almost done building there and have nothing but wonderful things to say about Taylor Morrison. Everyone that I meet that lives there seems to have little children - we have four ages 10-2. The school is PV/PV Rawlings which is an AMAZING school! I know that they are building a 5 bedroom (3200 sq feet) two story spec home right next door to our house. They are also paying off the bond portion of the CDD fee as a current promotion. If you want something larger, they have almost completed a 4800sq foot 7 bedroom home - it had been on contingency and it fell through so it is now available. We have walked through it and it is a neat house - the upstairs is amazing!

We looked very seriously at Durbin Crossing, but in the end choose Nocatee due to it's closeness to the beach and it's location to US 1 making the commute to downtown Jax very easy. We can be at the Avenues Mall area in 10 minutes and be at the beach in 10 minutes. We also loved Willowcove, but at the end of the day, could not find a floor plan that we liked there with either of the builders. We feel that the prices in Willowcove (and Coastal Oaks) are severely elevated just because of the name. Taylor Morrison builds with concrete block construction which just can't be beat and their prices for what you get are the best in town. If you have not considered Austin Park, I would reconsider. Talk to Tanya - she is wonderful! It might not be for you, but since you are on the fence, it is certainly worth you checking out!

I'm pretty sure there is at least one left on Cornwall Drive (toward the back end) in Austin Park. I'll walk by tonight and verify, or you can check with the builders--I'm not sure which one owns it. We love Austin Park (and Nocatee) for all the reasons Acebab mentioned. Good luck!

There are plenty of open lots, with water views, on my street in Durbin. We live on Longwood Street
