My grandson just arrived in JAX going to school. His truck died and he needs to get it fixed ASAP. Can someone recommend a good mechanic who won't take advantage of a kid?

It would probably help to know what area of Jax. your son is in as I'm sure if he's in the Beaches area he doesn't want to haul a disabled truck to the Baldwin (way out west) area or vice-versa.

He is at Tulsa Welding school on Powers Ave. Anyone have experience with Tire Kingdom? We used them in Tampa and had no problems IIRC.

He doesn't have the money so I am going to have to pay for it. Pretty much suxs being so far from home for the 1st time

I haven't had good experiences with places like Tire Kingdom, Firestone, etc. If it's an import truck I'd recommend JJ's Custom Import Repair on Atlantic near 9A. Been going there for 10 years with never an issue and the guy is honest to a fault regarding what the car needs to get it on the road versus what can wait 6 months.

Well.. my son was able to drive up from Tampa to help him. Truck is still not working. I gave them your recommendation on Auto Haus. They are going to have the truck towed.

My grandson finally sounded more like himself now that he has someone there to help him.

The owner's name is Carl ... favorite saying is "know what ah mean" ... good guy ... A few years ago he told us to come get out car "sometime this evening" ... went there about 8 ... he and his whole crew were there tinkering with various cars after hours

Thank you so much for your recommendation. His truck is there now and we will know Monday what is wrong with it.

My poor GS was so distraught that it helped to know I was getting him info he needed. If you see a big blonde kid with a southern accent that is burnt to a crisp it is probably him. He is spending the weekend swimming.. LOL

Update..

Truck is fixed and I can't thank you enough for the help. That is the one thing I love about CD you can get help no matter where you are.

My grandson feels much better now that he has wheels.
