fsquid will have a good opinion. Having spent just a few days in a suburb of Charlotte, I'm quite ignorant of the city itself. That said:

a. Charlotte
b. Jax
c. not sure
d. Affordable public schools? not sure.
e. push
f. Charlotte
g. push

Jacksonville all the way I can't stand Charlotte. Bought my First BMW bike there and it, the city seemed like a dump and very overrated. But then that was back in the mid 80's. I was stationed at Ft. Bragg and living in Southern Pines which I loved.

With these measures...Jacksonville.

For me as a young professional desiring more action, career advancement, better pay, and less rednecks? Then Charlotte.

Less rednecks? Charlotte! The home of the most NASCAR teams in America? Please...LOL just stay in midtown Atlanta and be happy.

a. JAX, Charlotte still has the cold winters and this month, they've had a hotter summer than us believe it or not.
b. JAX
c. Charlotte, their economy is much more diverse than JAX. once the banks had their scare, the city leaders started to aggresively attract other industries and have been successful.
d. Charlotte although their school budget is being slashed to hell and their test scores have started to fall (mainly due to a large influx of hispanic, legal and illegal).
e. JAX has an easier rush hour unless you are going over the buckman. Charlotte has a better public transportation system.
f. I'll say push on this one. Charlotte spent a ton of money on a city wide greenway which is great and you can get to the mountains in an hour and a half. JAX has a ton of parks, the river and the beaches.
g. crime rate depends on where you live. North JAX is a warzone, West Charlotte is just as bad.

Also, know that there will be a considerable tax difference between the two locations. I basically got a 7% raise by moving here 2 years ago just be a drop in my property tax, no personal property tax, and of course no state income tax (which benefits the Eastern part of NC anyways).

The rednecks have been forced out of the city due to expenses. Most of the NASCAR teams are based in Concord, Huntersville, and Statesville. No teams are actually set up in Charlotte.

Lived in Huntersville, right above Charlotte, for a year in 2008. Since we are into boating, we thought the Lake Norman area would be "our cup of tea", but didn't turn out that way.
Very glad we are now in Jax!
