We are in the same situation, but are looking for a home or duplex to rent. I am so glad that everyone here is friendly, most other forums have NOT been friendly when I (and others) have asked questions about moving to Jax. I feel bad, because we are stuck with having to get help from outside the military... I talk to several wives and all of them as well as my husband and myself have been repeatedly denied any assistance from the housing office on base (the people who are supposed to help you find a place to live) My husband is on deployment and has been emailing and calling, I have called and emailed multiple times and when I CAN get through to someone or someone replies, all they will tell us is "Come in and THEN I'll talk to you". Well I live in Tallahassee, one girl I know is in Iowa and another is in Arkansas and NONE of us can get any advice on even a decent apt complex until we are in their parking lot with a uhaul and a dream. LOL. I laugh, but seriously it is a terrible situation. THey are forcing you to move to an area (I'm okay with that, it's part of the job) but then those civilians who are PAID ample sums to help you find a place so you aren't sleeping in the street, refuse to do their jobs and leave us to blindly move to city like Jax. If I hadn't have found a few helpful locals here and there I'd be in trouble...
So for myself and others, thank you all so much for helping military members like this that NEED information that the Navy housing office is REFUSING to give out.
