Safe apartments
I have been researching apartments in the JAX area for about a month , I will be relocating to JAX at the end of September. I have been reading allot of the
apartment reviews which scare me a bit not because of the negatives that I have been reading but because the lack of reviews posted. One review will say "Don't move here" because of drugs , violence ect. then there will be a few that say how nice the complex is. In my mind these reviews are useless.
My wife and I took a weekend trip last month to tour Jacksonville , drove through it and around it.I think I would want to be in the Orange Park area or north of it due to the proximity of my work place. All I need is a small one bed, safe and quiet with a short term lease (3-5 months ) due to when my home sells my family will follow and we will purchase a home.
The apartment complexes for $250.00-450/ mo. are out the window , I know that I will have to pay for better but most are in the same ball park of $650-750 and all look the same.
I am 40 but act like I'm 60 , quiet , clean and mind my own business, I would rather live in a retirement community than an animal house atmosphere.
Can any one offer suggestions where to look ? If so and want to offer specifics I would offer an e-mail addy to converse.
Thanks / Help

I think you will be able to find a quite and safe apartment very easily. But, be aware that the state of florida does not allow 3-5 month leases for apartments. Apartment leases must be between 7 and 12 months in length.

Hi frank
One option is if your being transferred down here with your job, would be to see if anyone at the new location might consider a roommate for the period while you are selling your home.
There are also "extended stays" hotels that might fit in your budget.
I am not sure about the apts in the Orange Park area I can ask my sister who lives on that side of town.
I do know a couple apts on the southside that would be between $725 & $750
where friends live and they seem to be happy.

Safe apartments
Hi,
We just moved from Jacksonville and lived in a very quiet apartment complex, Pickwick, we only left because we relocated to Boca Raton, it is near I295 as well as being near the bridge (I cannot remember its name! ) that runs between Jacksonville and Orange Park. Mostly senior citizens and depending upon how many bedrooms you need seem to be pretty reasonable in price (800-1000 per month)

North of Orange Park is the Westside.......did you take a look around on the Westside on your visit too? Do you think that's where you'd want to be?

what is the location of where you will be working ?
This will enable us to offer better advise.
If you are working downtown there are tons of options.
