She looked at me and said, "I hate it when the weather changes to much cooler temps" and I have to agree with her! It's not nearly as bad as when we lived in Colorado and North Carolina, but pain/achiness is still there. I'm probably the only "Senior" on here, so I have nobody to defend how I feel.........oh well!
Well, I am a Senior (63), but I don't experience any of that. Neither does my husband who has had two hip replacement surgeries, and a fractured femur. Everyone is different, even Seniors!

Well it was chilly as all heck this morning before sunup 42° F at 5 AM out here in the wilds of western Duval county. When I got to Riverside for my daily bagel, at about 6:30 AM it was all the way up to 47° F. While standing on the banks of the St Johns river taking my sunrise/foam photo's at 7:45 AM it had become a sweltering 50° F. Was it chilly...Yes, was it uncomfortable ...No I was dressed for it I had on my jeans and my college hoodie and a hat.

I found these statements:

Florida
Nicknamed the "Sunshine State," Florida is a popular destination for retirees due to its warm weather.

Appeal of Florida
As a warm weather state, many seniors flock to Florida and choose to spend retirement in a beautiful vacation destination. Living in Florida is a great way to stay healthy and young while enjoying all the amenities of retirement. With average temperatures in the 70s and 80s and miles of beaches, living in this destination is a dream come true for many seniors. Florida attracts retirees from across the United States, many of whom come to live there just for the winter months. Others choose to call Florida home year-round and relocate more permanently.

Anyway, as long as it's not 35 degrees at 3PM, we'll be fine!
Darn we hate putting on the jeans again! But, the shorts are kept handy!

Most retirees move much further south in Florida (below Orlando anyway) mainly due to the possibility of freezing temperatures in north Florida. And even light snow being possible in the northern part of the panhandle area. Saw on the local news one night last week where one of the weathermen predicted that Jax would get snow sometime this winter I'm not to sure about that ... but anything is possible. All the signs I am seeing while out hunting indicate a very cold winter this year.

Perhaps it's even open today - but I suspect more interior roads are a real mess. Wonder whether kids will go trick or treating as snowmen . Robyn

I think the weather was weird this morning. The Weather Channel said it was about 46 in JAX - but we were over 60 here at the Beaches in the early am. There is often a 5-10 degree difference - but not often > 10 degrees. Robyn

It seems like it is always a little warmer at the airport (where the temperature is officially recorded for the NWS) than anywhere else in Jax during the summer. And a little colder during the winter months. It also seems to be the opposite at the beaches which are cooler in the summer and a little warmer in the winter months. Out where I live the summer temps. are about the same as the airport, but during the winter it can be 5° F lower mainly because theres no massive concrete heat sinks out here in the country, like there are in the city or at the airport.

A lot of days the afternoon temp here on the Southside at Baymeadows and Southside Blvds is higher than at the airport........some 5 to 7 degrees higher. We've noticed this since moving here in '09.
As far as snow goes, we got snow last winter.......on Christmas Day! I was sitting in my recliner watching tv with our livingroom curtain/shades open. I just happen to glance out the window when the white stuff was starting to come down. I grabbed our video camera and ran outside and began taping. Our neighbor upstairs was standing on the stairway and he said "can you believe this?" and I said "pretty amazing isn't it. Who would think it would snow here?" Anyway, I continued to tape and zoomed in on some trees to get a better video of how hard it was coming down........and it was definitely coming down! None stuck, but I got it on video. Our friends down in Ormond Beach told us that it snowed on Daytona Beach a few years ago.
When it snows in Las Vegas, which seems to happen once or twice each year, the people visiting there get a real shock! Just imagine, walking out of a casino in Vegas and it snowing like mad and STICKING!
