So.....here's what been going on in the Springfield Historic District neighbrohood . . . .

The annual 'Halloween Ball' was amazing, as usual and is pretty much the best costume party in all of Jax. A few Hollywood-grade makeup artists & stylists actually do a lot of the costumes:

&

The annual "Thrill the World" fundraiser was a hit (a zombie choreographed dance event, nationally coordinated):

&

The annual Children's Halloween Festival in Klutho Park was charming, as usual:

The Springfield Disc Golf course is being installed this weekend, the 3rd full disc golf course in Jacksonville:

The annual Turkey Bowl will be played on Thanksgiving morning, in Klutho Park (flag football with old-time football, old-time rules and actual old-time goal posts). It's always East v. West.

Another movie recently finished up shooting:

and this one starts in a few months, directed by an Oscar Award winning SPR resident:

The 2011 Holiday Home Tour is being planned, just around the corner (Dec 9th & 10th): Springfield Presents 25th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes. FYI, there's going to be a few amazing recent renovations on the Tour this year. All for non-profits, of course.

Here's a few photos from last year...

And here's a bunch of other happenings in recent months....

There were a lot of people out this past weekend on the course, in fact.

Complete with golf cart and special disc golf carrying case. Pretty serious, I guess.

Comment from playing: The course directs you underneath two small bridges to get to the following tees.....with "interesting" smells and an occasional homeless person underneath. A true urban disc golf course course. : )

All in all a better playing experience than the old Brentwood Golf Course at Golfair and I-95. Which the city(who owned the course) had to close because so many golfers were getting mugged by the local urbanite residents of the area. First Tee Jacksonville now occupies 1/2 the land the Brentwood Club used to be on. Brentwood back in the day was a great old Donald Ross designed golf course.
