If this comes to Jacksonville, watch out... pick that week to go on vacation.
It really wasnt the college kids causing the trouble but the outsider visiting criminals messed Atlanta up then went back to their hoods to hide. One thing about these types of events it criminal heaven. Pimps bring their best stallions to these events. Cocaine, weed & X is sold right on the streets in the open in broad day light. Sad to say...but the youth is getting more crazy as time goes one.

Attention white people, you have nothing to fear. The black kids will not hurt you!

I worked as an Atlanta Firefighter during the Freaknik years and it looked like a good time event to me(BTW, I'm a dirty white boy).

I must say, the sistas love a tall handsome white boy in uniform(that would be me).

Just like any other big event that gets too huge to be controlled (for example,The Great Ramblin' Raft Race & Light Up Atlanta) the powers that be killed Freaknik instead of doing the tough work of making the event more organized.

The major problem as I saw it was the traffic gridlock during Freaknik. But that is manageable with proper planning.

As an aside, I've got a t-shirt around here somewhere from the two man Firefighter/EMT golf cart teams that were stationed in busy areas.

It had:

ATLANTA FIRE RESCUE
Freaknik Action Rescue Team

on the back.

LoL, you work in Dunwoody or Buckhead? In-town, it was anything but what you describe... it was total mayhem.

What about the 15 yr old girl who was raped with an unloaded gun?? Did you guys rescue her too?? I mean whats up with that situation?? Urban Beach Weekend had some killings too this year. If Miami had any sense they would ban that event as well.
