Cool retiring to jacksonville are
The information I get on here is great. Although I have searched 'moving' posts, I have'nt found my particular circumstances, so here they are:

-Moving to greater Jacksonville when I retire in 1 1/2 yrs. from Connecticut.

-I'll be 55 and my wife will be 56. Both are healthy and would like proximity to things to do.

-My wife is returning to FLorida, certified to teach, and wants to continue teaching (Elementary reading)

-want to be approx 30-45 min to airport and mayo

-Would like the amenities that a nice community offers: pool, gym, etc.

-Approx price range; $400,000, 3+ bedrooms, 2+ baths. Would be nice to have my own pool

Any ideas are appreciated.

This may be an "out of the box" suggestion but if I was 55 I would look at Sweetwater. It is 55+ but not your average 55+
They have an incredible hall that has a pool. workout center, business/media center/pool tables and tons of social gatherings. We have friends that live there and they are constantly busy doing something. When I went to visit I asked if they ever made exceptions on the age thing Right across the highway is a "A" elementary school Twin Lake elementary.
It is 35 mins 35 if you drive fast from the airport and 15 mins to Mayo.
I will be on vacation for the next 10 days but when I get back I can get any info you might want
