So a couple of years ago we moved to the Jacksonville area from Ohio. We listened to advice from here on the boards and also called and spoke to people in the area. BIG mistake. We ended up in Oakleaf which has become a nightmare. So we are getting ready to get out of this area in late March early April and are hoping that we get some better advice. Sadly we have to stay in the Jax area because we have jobs downtown that we do not want to give up.

So what are we looking for? Not Oakleaf for one thing. Something in a better neighborhood. Lower crime. Good schools....elementary and middle schools.

Some have suggested Julington Creek. So anyone who wants to provide more info on that area it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

IMO...Just about anywhere in northern St Johns County like JCP or Durbin Crossing maybe even Nocatee.
I know there are plenty more subdivisions in the area, I'm just not familiar with any of the other ones in particular.

San Marco and Riverside & Avondale historic district are great neighborhoods, near downtown, and have good elementary schools and decent middle schools.

Enjoy.

I live in the Julington Creek area and have for many years. We would never live anywhere else but St Johns co. unless we moved out of state) My kids have gone to all the schools. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I also work downtown on Bay st so I make that commute daily.

I love this area. We had a house built in Julington Creek Plantation in 2002, then sold it and bought in Aberdeen which is right behind JCP.

I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Ive lived in JCP since 1992.

If you are sad to be in the Jacksonville area then you will be sad wherever you move.

not true at all.

Jax is great, but it isnt for everyone. I'd be sad if I lived in the Oakleaf area or anywhere near Argyle or Blanding!!

Thanks for all the responses. We are still looking at St Johns as our main choice at this point. And just to clarify...yes we don't like the Jacksonville area at all but we would be crazy to give up our jobs to move out of state in this economy. Oakleaf isn't what it is portrayed to be. We didn't know better when we first moved here. Now we do. Thats not to say that if we move to St. Johns area we wont fall in love with it. We are hoping that we do find an area that we can be happy and feel safe in. If it were just my husand and I we could settle anywhere. We just want better for our kids.

And to Madcapmagishion....Prozac is always the way to go!
