I hope he rented because if he didn't, you might as well just played trapped by Springsteen for a good long while

Rented in Mandarin b/c I needed a place that was relatively safe and affordable with a short commute (work in Commonwealth)

You work off of Commonwealth Ave. and you rented in Mandarin? ... Move to Riverside! It's just as safe and it's way closer and more age appropriate. IMHO!!!

You're pretty young to live in Mandarin. I used to live there. I liked living there with kids, it was quiet. The school was okay. But eventually I moved closer to town to the Southside. Commonwealth...that's out there by the bike path. hmm..

I'd say if you miss college or like suburbs, SJTC is for you. If you're more yuppie and like cities, Riverside/San Marco are about as good as you're gonna get here. I'll throw in a vote for Kickbacks.

I'd say the historic neighborhoods around Downtown are a good mix of yuppies, hippies, artsy types, and urbanites.

The area around SJTC and Tinseltown (it's all the same) is kind of your generic, random person, much like everything located in those areas.

To each his/her own.

What about seniors who are looking for a good place to hang out. Would SJTC be good for us, or is that strictly for the young people?

Crazynip, have you ever had anything positive to contribute to City-Data or are you just one of those same alcoholic unemployeds looking for attention?

It's a giant sprawling outdoor mall complex with a core that incorporates urban design & walkability, thus making it popular. The rest of the complex is just your typical shopping center (ie River City Market Place, Southside Blvd, Phillips Ave, etc). People of all ages enjoy spending time in the walkable-designed core. Lots of seniors there too.
